  • IMPORTANT !
Emergency numbers in Russia when dialing from mobile and fixed phones are different! When dialing direct numbers for firefighters, police and ambulance on fixed device (hotel, street phone, etc), use only 01, 02, and 03, respectively. Number 112 is not active when dialing from fixed phones!

All emergency numbers are free. Besides, dialing a rescue number 112 is possible with any available mobile network, incl by phone without SIM card.

If your injuries are badly and you need an ambulance immediately, don't waste time for calling the police or fire service! In Russia, the following rule applies to the work of emergency services: if the incident is of a criminal nature or there was a road or other man-made incident with victims, then the ambulance operator will duplicate the call to the police (firefighters, rescuers, if necessary) independently.
Very important!

You should inform ambulance and hospital staff of any chronic conditions, allergies to medicine, other medical issues, as well as information about the blood group and the Rh factor.
It is best to write this information on paper and always carry along together with your ID and a medical insurance policy

If for medical reasons it is necessary to continue treatment in-hospital, contact your embassy or consulate and also your insurance company representative.
In Russian, the phrase "I want to call my embassy" is - Ya khachu pazvanit v mayo paso
lstva.

in an emergency » basic vocabulary
If you ever find yourself in an emergency, being able to call emergency services is a very useful skill. Of course, only call emergency services when they're really needed. In Russia, there is a common number for emergency calls - 112. However, it will be much better to remember the direct numbers of fire, police and ambulances - this will help save valuable time. After all, it is only three simple numbers - 101, 102, 103. Read more here

The operator will ask you a number of questions. Be prepared to provide your location (streen name + building number or the nearest landmark) and what type of help you need. But, how to say something in Russian if you don't know a word of Russian? The best solution is to ask someone around to help you and talk to the operator instead of you. Well, what to do if no one is around?
No problem! We have collected for you all necessary words and phrases in English and translated them into Russian.
Open the dictionary and click the desired phrase or word. You will see the translation into Russian, as well as the phrase in Russian in Latin letters. Dashes below indicate stress (accent) a certain syllable in a word.
Pay attention to the rules of pronunciation
Transliteration is given for the classical Latin alphabet and does not match with the rules of orthography and pronunciation of English.
Besides, in Russian, as in many other languages, words are pronounced differently than they are spelled. For example, the French PEUGEOT is actually pronounced as PEZHO. And Russian Moscow (in Russian - Москва / Moskva) is actually pronounced as MAskva.
