✅ Clothing, food, accessories. St. Petersburg, as well as its suburbs, do not have a stable comfortable climate, so in order to 'correspond to the weather', it will be useful to
check the forecast. If you plan to walk in the parks, then wear comfortable shoes without heels and put a couple of sandwiches and a bottle of water in a bag. This is not necessary if you are going to confine yourself to visiting only the Catherine Palace. There are a lot of
cafes and restaurants in the area from fast food to national cuisine.
✅ More things to do. There are two world-famous sights in St. Petersburg, which are located in the suburbs. These are Tsarskoe Selo and
Fountains in Peterhof. Some tourists make the big mistake of trying to visit both of these places on the same day.
Do not do that! Firstly, the transport connection between Peterhof and Pushkin is not optimal and you will spend a lot of time on the road. Secondly, it's like if you dine in one of the cool restaurants, you immediately go to dinner in another.
Plan your visit to Peterhof and Pushkin into two days. But what to do if you don't have much time? Choose something one. What exactly? It`s easy!
Check the forecast If the weather is optimal for walking in the fresh air, in summer and in general when the fountains are on, definitely choose
Peterhof. If it is raining and windy outside, go inside, that is, come to the city of Pushkin.
There are many
other attractions besides the palaces. Even train stations are sights! After all, this is the very first railway in Russia and its oldest stations. Must to see! Therefore the next chapter is..
✅ Transportation & Accommodation. As we have already said, the commuter train from 'Vitebskiy Vokzal' train station in St Petersburg is our special recommendation. However, read also about
all the ways to get to Tsarskoe Selo, as well as VERY useful tipsWalks and excursions around Pushkin town are breathtaking, but also a little tiring. If you like 'city break' style travels and you came to our town without huge bags and suitcases, why do you need to return right away to St Petersburg right away after excursion to Tsarskoe Selo?
Become a local for one night in a very cozy semi-provincial town! Or do so. Come in the evening, spend the night in a hotel, and in the morning go to see the Amber Room. There are many excellent hotels and apartments in Pushkin!
And, maybe, do you want to live right in the Catherine Palace itself? We do not lie, there is such an option! Tempting? Well..
